So close to madness, so close.

It took a desperate drive from guard Gerald Henderson, but the No. 2 Duke Blue Devils survived the No. 15 Belmont Bruins 71-70. Uh...yay?

Guard Alex Renfroe did the best he could to keep the Bruins in the game, scoring 11 of his 15 points in the second half. But once again the Dukies have proven that god likes them better than us common folk. Belmont seemed to be outplaying the Blue Devils down the stretch but couldn't make the shots when they counted.

Duke point guard Greg Paulus struggled most of the contest, making only 3 of 10 shots for 12 points.

The Bruins' season came to an end when a desperation shot from three feet behind the three-point line fell short.

Bettors leave this game happy, Belmont easily covered the inflated 20.5-point spread with the one-point loss.
