Eddie Alvarez Added to Dream Lightweight Grand Prix
Former Bodog Fight champion Eddie Alvarez will soon fight in Japan.
Former Bodog Fight champion Eddie Alvarez (12-1-0) has been added to the card for the Dream Lightweight Grand Prix, March 15 in Japan.
A product of the Philadelphia Fight Factory, Alvarez' opponent will be Andre "Dida" Amade (6-2-1) from the Chute Boxe team in Brazil.
While Amade is coming off a loss to American Top Team fighter Gesias "JZ" Calvancante (14-1-1) in K-1 Hero's, Alvarez is returning to the ring after beating Ross "The Boss" Ebanez (17-6-0) by TKO in ShoXC in January.
Alvarez won the Bodog Fight welterweight belt in 2006 by knocking out Aaron Riley (23-10-1). After beating Scott Henze (21-10-2) in Costa Rica, Alvarez lost the belt to Nick "The Goat" Thompson (34-9-1) at Bodog Fight: Clash of the Nations in St. Petersburg, Russia. Although Alvarez went on to beat Matt Lee (9-7-1) in New Jersey, a re-match with "The Goat" failed to materialize.
Other participants in the tournament include two-time K-1 tournament champion Calvancante, Japanese submission master Shinya Aoki (14-2-0) and Bodog Fight veteran Kultar "Black Mamba" Gill (9-6-0).
