Eddie Alvarez Fights in Dream Lightweight Tournament
Former Bodog Fight champion Eddie Alvarez will Fight Andre "Dida" Amade in the opening round of the Dream Lightweight Tournament.
Former Bodog Fight welterweight world champion Eddie Alvarez (12-1-0) is among the fighters competing in the opening round of the Dream lightweight Grand Prix tournament.
Fighting out of Philadelphia, Alvarez will face Brazilian Andre "Dida" Amade (6-2-1), March 15 in Saitama, Japan.
"I like Dida as a first round match-up for myself and for the fans because he's just kind of wild, aggressive," Alvarez tells TAGG Radio. "He likes to come at you. And the match-up's intriguing because I'm the same way."
Alvarez is currently coming off back-to-back wins over Ross Ebanez (17-6-0) and Matt Lee (9-7-1), while Amade is looking to recover from a first-round loss to Gesias "JZ" Calvancante (14-1-0) from September of 2007. If Amade can get past Alvarez, he may face "JZ" later in the tournament.
Currently, Alvarez is the underdog at +125 while Amade is the -155 favorite.
