Fedor Emelianenko to Fight Tim Sylvia in July?

Top-ranked Russian heavyweight Fedor Emelianenko (27-1) may fight former UFC champion Tim Sylvia (24-4) in July.

The former Pride fighting champion confirmed the fight with Sherdog.com.

" is a good fighter, a strong fighter, the former UFC heavyweight champion, which is important," he said. "I am looking forward to fighting him and training hard for this fight."

The news comes quick on the heels of Sylvia's depature from the UFC, which came shortly after Fedor's departure from M-1 Global.

According to reports, the fight may happen at the American Airlines Arena in Dallas, Texas at the venue owned by Mark Cuban, owner of HDNet Fights, and would be promoted by an unannounced organization associated with Affliction clothing.

Speaking with MMAweekly.com, Sylvia's manager Monte Cox would not confirm the match, but said "as Tim's manager, I would certainly entertain the opportunity for him to fight Fedor."
