Though it was a game where future draft prospect LaMichael James paced the Ducks with 159 rushing yards off 25 carries, the star running back had plenty of help. Quarterback Darron Thomas passed for 268 yards and three touchdowns, while freshman De’Anthony Thomas scored on runs of 91 and 64 yards. The No. 5 Ducks earned their first bowl victory under coach Chip Kelly and first Rose Bowl win in 95 years. It was the highest-scoring Rose Bowl ever played.

“It’s been 95 years since you could say: Oregon Ducks, Rose Bowl champions,” Ducks head coach Kelly said.

Though No. 10 Wisconsin came up short they kept pace with the high-scoring Ducks most of the evening. Badgers running back Montee Ball ran it 32 times for 165 yards and one touchdown, while receiver Nick Toon had nine catches for 104. Things were back and forth for three quarters, until the Ducks D buckled down and held the Badgers scoreless for the final 15 minutes.

“This team showed what Oregon football is all about,” said linebacker Kiko Alonso, named the defensive MVP after getting a key interception, five tackles and two sacks.
