Frank Shamrock on Cung Le, Kimbo and Anderson Silva
Frank Shamrock says Kimbo Slice is the "absolute worst role model we could have" for mixed martial arts.
When Strikeforce middleweight champion Frank Shamrock (24-8-1) hypes a fight, he doesn't just trash talk his opponent. He trash talks everyone.
Leading up to his match against the undefeated Cung Le (5-0-0), March 29 in San Jose, Calif., he's at it again.
Speaking with 15rounds.com, Shamrock quickly talks about the kung fu champion, then moves on to give his opinion on Kimbo Slice (2-0-0) and UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva (21-4-0).
"When I look at Cung, he looks like a young boy," Shamrock says. "Anyone has a shot at winning. But if I were him, I wouldn’t fight me."
Currently, Shamrock is the -220 favorite to win in the Bodog Sportsbook, while Le is a +180 underdog.
After talking about Le, Shamrock shares his thoughts on the Elite XC superstar.
"Kimbo has a weird aura about him," he says. "I think he is the absolute worst role model we could have for our events. I think it’s a step back to where we were ten years ago which is the big, tough scary guy fighting."
Before wrapping up the interview, he manages to fit in his opinion on the UFC champ as well.
"I laugh when people say Anderson Silva is the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world," he says, "because I’ve been that guy two or three times so we’ll see if he can sustain it. If he can sustain it, he’ll be the next super superstar much like I have been and will be."
