Heck No, Sheff Won't Go

Sure, you can trade for Gary Sheffield.
Just don't expect him to show up.
"If I have to go somewhere, I won't go," the Yankees' slugger told The New York Times Wednesday. "If they said 'wouldn't you want to get paid', I'd say 'I've got plenty of money.' I'm not playing nowhere else, I can promise you that."
Sheffield's comments stem from a report in the Times which indicated that the Yankees are negotiating with the Mets on a Sheffield-for-Mike Cameron swap. The deal would give the Yanks a significant upgrade in defensive outfield presence, while the Mets would receive another big bat for their lineup.
The Yankees, currently 39-38 and in 4th place in the AL East, have been looking to revive a team which has drastically underachieved all season long.
"The only reason I'm playing is that I wanted to play for the Yankees," Sheffield explained. "If I don't get that opportunity, things change."
