Washington came into the series as a big underdog on the NHL betting lines at Bovada, but the teams are now tied at 1-1 after the Capitals pulled out a 2-1 win in Boston in Game 2 on Saturday afternoon.
Nicklas Backstrom scored in overtime for Washington on Saturday to give his team the win, with Troy Brouwer adding a Capitals goal in the second period. Washington goaltender Braden Holtby made 43 saves on 44 Boston shots in the contest as he continues to play ahead of injured netminders Tomas Vokoun and Michal Neuvirth for the club.
Benoit Pouliot was the only Bruins skater able to beat Holtby on Saturday, finding the back of the net in the third period to send the game to the extra frame. Tim Thomas blocked 37 of 39 Washington shots on the afternoon.
The Bruins won Game 1 of the series 1-0 in overtime last week on a Chris Kelly goal, with Thomas making 17 saves for Boston and Holtby stopping 29 pucks for Washington.
On the updated Stanley Cup futures board at Bovada the Bruins sit at 8/1 to win the championship once again this season, and at 4/1 to win the Eastern Conference. The Capitals are at 20/1 to claim the Cup and 12/1 to come out on top in the East this year.
After playing on Monday the Bruins and Capitals will get a two-day break before returning to the ice in Game 4 of the series on Thursday night.
