Indiana Star Eric Gordon Enters NBA Draft

According to reports from the Indianapolis Star, Indiana Hoosiers freshman sensation Eric Gordon is ditching the college game for the pros.

Gordon, who led the Big 10 in scoring this past season, has announced that he'll enter the 2008 NBA Draft on the strength of his 20.9 points per game average, the most prolific freshman scoring average in Hoosier history.

The move was hardly shocking given the turmoil surrounding the IU program this year. After a brilliant start to the season that saw the Hoosiers go as high as No. 9 in the AP Polls, the team was decimated with news that former head coach Kelvin Sampson was under fire for illegal recruiting practices. Sampson had already been under fire from incidents at Oklahoma and was quickly shown the door by Indiana's athletic department.

His replacement, Dan Dakich, seemingly lost the team as soon as he took over with lame-duck status. The Hoosiers went 4-5 under Dakich and flamed out of the NCAA tournament in the first round, losing to Arkansas. In that game, Gordon went 3-for-15 from the field and 0-for-6 from three-point land in what was a brutal ending to his collegiate career.
