A new era has finally begun in Oakland.

The Raiders made Jamarcus Russell their top pick in April's draft and, after the LSU product missed all of training camp with a contract dispute, gave him his first taste of action Sunday against the Denver Broncos.

Russell entered the game in the second quarter and completed a 16-yard pass to Jerry Porter on his first play, earning a standing ovation from the home fans in the process.

Josh McCown started at quarterback for Oakland and completed eight of 10 attempts for 64 yards and two scores in the first half.

The Raiders lead the Broncos, 14-7, at halftime.
