Once ranked as the pound-for-pound top boxer in the world, Roy Jones Jr. (51-4, 38 KO's) is the -335 favorite to beat Felix "Tito" Trinidad (44-2, 35 KO's) according to the Bodog Sportsbook, while Trinidad is the +265 underdog.
Coming out of retirement and bulking up to 170 pounds to fight Jones on Jan. 19 at Madison Square Garden, "Tito" promised an explosive fight while addressing reporters at a recent press conference.
"Roy, you are going to fight the best Tito Trinidad that anyone has ever fought against," he said. "On Jan. 19, I’m going to get another victory for me, and that weekend we are really going to celebrate."
Talking strategy, Jones said that he plans on putting his slick boxing style aside and hitting Trinidad with some power shots as a welcome to the heavier weight class.
"You’re fighting a man who made his money as a junior-middleweight and a welterweight," Jones explained. "Don’t get me wrong, he can punch but at the same time he ain’t used to taking that punch back for so many rounds.”
