It didn't have the flare of the Fiesta Bowl, but Louisville (12-1) got the job done.

The Cardinals survived through three sloppy quarters  to win the Orange Bowl 24-13 in Miami, Fla.

The  fourth-ranked  Cards offense  scored only 10 points in the first three quarters, however they were able to win and  cover the  10.5 point spread with a 14-point fourth.  The win  earned the Cards  their first major-bowl victory in 15 years.

The 2007 season is looking  good for Louisville  and the Big East conference, as they finished the season with their highest ranking ever.

"This is a big win for our program," said Cards receiver Harry Douglas, who made 10 catches for 165 yards. "We're becoming a national power. It had to start with this game."

Despite falling short in the Orange Bowl, the ACC's Demon Decons (11-3)  close out the year with their best season in history.
