MadFace II For ThaOx: Making Brutal Picks

I'm grumpy-grandma grumpy... I can't make a correct NFL pick to save my life.

Mr. Blue picked the Bears to beat the Detroit Lions last weekend... and of course I went the other way, thinkin' QB Jeff Garcia would motivate his team. He just motivated further doubt by throwing a bone-head interception in OT that won the game for the Bears 19-13. That brought our season records to 4-5 for Mr. Blue... and a painful 3-6 for me.

Next up we both had the Redskins to defeat the NY Giants... well, we were close on this one. The Redskins didn't even show up, bringing their tails to get 'em handed 36-nothing and leaving their heads and their hearts in Washington as they allowed RB Tiki Barber to run roughshod for 206 yards on 24 carries. I'm sitting at 3-7, Blue's 4-6, and I'm cussing. Thanks Washington...

I was on my way to tears with just over 8 minutes left in the 4th quarter of the Bills/Patriots game... when the Bills were leading an inspired effort 16-7, because I picked the Patriots to win. Well, the Patriots' defense stepped things up, forcing fumbles and scoring touchdowns, and my eyes start to dry up, right? Well, the effort wasn't enough, as the Patriots pulled out a 21-16 victory but they didn't cover the spread... madness turns to sadness, and the rivers are flowing. I'm 3-8, and Blue's 4-7.

Last and least of our sorry efforts, we both picked the Chiefs to prevail over the Chargers in what we thought would be a battle of running backs. The game turned into a battle of tight ends, with the Chargers TE Antonio Gates pretty much beating TE Tony Gonzalez and the Chiefs by himself by catching 3 TD passes in San Diego's 28-20 win. I'm batting .250... that's even horrid in baseball, forget football... as I sit at 3-9. Mr. Blue is hammering the ball at 4-8. Now where's that first-aid kit????
