The Philadelphia Phillies look to get their offense in gear and pick up their first victory of the season when they continue a three-game series with the Atlanta Braves tonight.
Jimmy Rollins, Chase Utley and Ryan Howard combined to go 1-for-11 with two strikeouts in the opener, and they might not have much luck against scheduled starter Jair Jurrjens, who’s coming off an impressive rookie season.
Jurrjens went 13-10 with a 3.68 ERA in 31 starts in 2008, leading NL rookies in victories and ERA. The righthander did an outstanding job of limiting home runs, ranking fifth in the majors with 0.53 homers allowed per nine innings.
Jamie Moyer, the scheduled starter for the -120 favored Phillies, failed to record a decision in two starts versus the Braves last season, posting a 6.55 ERA in those contests. He’s 2-3 with a 5.55 ERA in eight starts against Atlanta since being traded to the Phillies in 2006.
