Two storied clubs will go head-to-head on MLB baseball odds this Friday when the Boston Red Sox (-135) visit the Detroit Tigers (+115).

Max Scherzer (1-3, 6.81 ERA) will get the nod for Detroit. He’s lost his last two starts, including a five-inning, five-run effort against Cleveland last week. Scherzer has surrendered 17 earned runs in his last 13 innings.

The righthander is making his first career start against the Boston Red Sox.

The Red Sox will go with Clay Buchholz (3-3, 3.82 ERA). He was excellent in April but has since cooled in May, going 1-1 with a 7.59 ERA. The lefty allowed five runs in five innings in his last outing, resulting in a 14-3 loss to the Yankees.

Buchholz has faced the Tigers twice in his career, going 0-1 with a 4.91 ERA.
