Tonight, Walter Silva will try to help the San Diego Padres to a second consecutive win over the Los Angeles Dodgers when the NL West rivals continue their four-game set at Petco Park.

Silva didn’t start pitching until he was 27, and has never played professionally in the United States.

Though four San Diego pitchers held Los Angeles to five hits Tuesday, Silva will still be in for a challenge.

Manny Ramirez doubled for his first hit on Tuesday after going 0-for-3 in Monday’s 4-1 season-opening win at Petco.

Chad Billingsley, the scheduled starter for Los Angeles, enjoyed a career year in 2008, going 16-10 with a 3.16 ERA in 32 starts before a pair of rough outings against Philadelphia in the NL championship series.

Billingsley is 4-3 with a 2.37 ERA in nine starts against San Diego.
