The Texas Rangers have traditionally presented major problems for the Arizona Diamondbacks' Jon Garland, but he will be coming off one of his best outings of the season when the teams settle their three-game set in Phoenix tonight.

Garland was sharp in his last start, tossing seven shutout innings Friday against Seattle.

But seeing Garland on the mound could be a welcome sight for the Rangers after he gave up 20 earned runs in 15 1-3 innings in three starts versus Texas last year while with the Angels.

For his career, Garland is 5-8 with a 6.39 ERA against Texas.

Texas led the majors with 901 runs last year, but despite a better record this season's club ranks 13th and is scoring nearly a full run less per game.

The Diamondbacks haven't won a series against Texas since June 4-6, 1999, dropping 10 of their last 14 to the Rangers.
