MLB Betting Lines: Phillies at Cubs

Pedro Martinez makes his Philadelphia Phillies debut and his first appearance in almost a year tonight against the Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field.

On the disabled list with a mild shoulder strain, Martinez will be activated after going 1-1 with a 5.11 ERA in three minor league rehab starts.

Martinez, who’s 3-3 with a 4.71 ERA in eight starts against the Cubs, looks to help his new club to a second straight win.

The Cubs are expected to be without slugger Aramis Ramirez for the rest of the series. Ramirez hasn’t played since leaving Saturday’s game in Colorado with shoulder soreness.

After 42 career relief appearances Jeff Samardzija will make his first start for Chicago in this one. The righthander replaces ace Carlos Zambrano, currently on the disabled list with back spasms.

Samardzija is 1-1 with a 7.36 ERA in three career appearances against the -120 favored Phillies.
