Chris Carpenter looks to win his fourth start in a row tonight in the St. Louis Cardinals’ series finale against the Cincinnati Reds at Busch Stadium.

Carpenter, who is 6-0 with a 2.04 ERA in his last seven outings, is trying to win four consecutive starts for the first time since Aug. 24-Sept. 8, 2005.

The odds are in his favor as he has had no trouble beating the Reds lately, posting a 0.72 ERA in winning his last three starts against them, including two this season.

The Reds counter with Homer Bailey, who is coming off another disappointing outing.

Bailey allowed five runs and nine hits in six innings of Friday’s 10-5 win over San Francisco, but did not get a decision.

He did have his best start of the season against the Cardinals on July 3, allowing two runs and three hits in 7 1-3 innings.
