MLB Betting Results: Mets' Implosion Continues With Another Loss

The New York Mets are intent on giving a new meaning to their nickname the Amazins. In what would be a historic collapse, the Mets have seen their lead in the National League East shrink to one game after another loss to the sub-.500 Washington Nationals on Wednesday night.
New York blew a five-run lead and dropped their third straight to the Nationals, who had another major payday for their backers as they went off at +185 on the moneyline (meaning a winning wager of $100 would yield a sweet $185 profit).
Ryan Church keyed the comeback as he homered and delivered four RBIs. Washington completed the improbable sweep over a team that appeared to have the NL East sewn up at the beginning of the month.
Carlos Beltran hit two homers for New York and Moises Alou had another, but the Mets' offense got no help from the pitching staff. The Mets have lost six straight games at Shea Stadium, resulting in a chorus of boos from the 51,940 in attendance.
In other early NL action on Wednesday:
Philadelphia 5, Atlanta 2: Kyle Lohse (9-12) threw seven quality innings and Jimmy Rollins was 3-for-4 as the Phillies closed in on the Mets for first place in the NL East. Philadelphia, an underdog against the Braves' Tim Hudson, paid +120 at home.
