The New York Yankees will try again to solve Roy Halladay, who makes his first start since the trade deadline when the Toronto Blue Jays open a two-game home set tonight.
The Yankees are 5-2 against Toronto, but one of the losses predictably came against Halladay on May 12 when the Blue Jays ace pitched a five-hitter in a 5-1 victory.
Halladay is 16-5 with a 2.90 ERA in 34 games versus the Yankees. He has gone 8-0 with a 2.10 ERA in his last 10 home outings against them.
Scheduled Yankees starter Andy Pettitte has struggled of late, going 0-3 with a 5.34 ERA in his last five outings.
The lefthander is 1-1 with a 5.25 ERA in two starts versus the Blue Jays this year. He’s 13-5 with a 3.92 ERA at Toronto after an 8-2 win May 13 in which he yielded two runs.
