It appears the Cincinnati Reds have their ace in the bullpen for October.

On Tuesday, August 31, the Reds called up 22-year-old Cuban left-hander Aroldis Chapman from Triple-A Louisville, and the prospect has been throwing heat ever since.

In seventh-inning relief Wednesday night Chapman was clocked at 103.9 mph, earning his first career win by blowing pitches past the Milwaukee Brewers. 6-1 was the final.

His presence gives the Reds a needed boost in the bullpen as they near closer to earning their first playoff bid since 1995.

And the Reds have more than a legitimate shot. They've pulled eight games ahead of their only rival in the NL Central, the St. Louis Cardinals. MLB odds have them as easy favorites to take the NL Central.

Chapman and his hand cannon have another pivotal series with the Cardinals starting Friday, September 3.
