The Los Angeles Dodgers look to extend their series lead when they face Adam Wainwright and the visiting St. Louis Cardinals today.
MLB playoff odds have not been released for the game at this time.
Wainwright will make his first postseason appearance since closing out the Cardinals’ 4-2 World Series-clinching victory in Game 5 against Detroit in 2006.
The Cards are certainly a good bet today, since only once this season when Carpenter and Wainwright started back-to-back did St. Louis lose both games.
The Dodgers counter with Clayton Kershaw, who makes his first postseason start. The 21-year-old lefthander allowed one run over two innings of relief spanning two appearances against Philadelphia in last year’s NL Championship Series.
Offensive struggles have been common of late for the Cardinals, who scored three runs or fewer in 12 of their 17 games to close September.
