Hey, you gotta start somewhere.

After an 0-7 start that had many in the metro Detroit area quite nervous, the Tigers finally got their first win of the season on Wednesday, a 7-2 victory over the Boston Red Sox at Fenway. While the win was nice, it still should be mentioned that no team in MLB history has made the postseason after an 0-7 start. Not to piss on the Tigers' parade or anything.

The Tigers got five solid innings out of starter Jeremy Bonderman and home runs from Carlos Guillen and Marcus Thames to win the rubber match of the Boston series. The Red Sox didn't get much out of starter Jon Lester, who gave up four runs in just five innings of work. Pudge Rodriguez showed why he's one of the best defensive catches of all-time, throwing out two Boston baserunners (Julio Lugo and Kevin Youkilis) to keep the Red Sox offense at bay.

In Kansas City:

The Royals continued their surprise start to the season, winning their second straight against the Yankees with a 4-0 victory. Zack Greinke threw eight innings of shutout ball for his second win of the season, backed by a big jack from C John Buck and more tremendous baserunning from Joey Gathright. The speed merchant CF now leads the AL with six steals in eight games.

K.C. is now 6-2 on the year while the Yankees sit at 4-5.
