The Boston Red Sox (91-64, 12.92 units) have clinched at least a tie for the American League Wild Card. Boston is 6.5 games up on the New York Yankees; New York has six games left to go, while the Red Sox have seven. They play one another three times at Fenway to end the regular season. Boston is also in the AL East title hunt, 1.5 games behind the Tampa Bay Rays (92-62, 26.30 units), who play seven times in six days on the road.

Even if we leave the Yankees for dead, we still don’t know exactly who’s going to make it into the playoffs. The Chicago White Sox (86-69, 11.51 units) have a 2.5-game lead on the Minnesota Twins (84-72, 13.39 units), and they play a three-game series at the Metrodome starting on Tuesday. Chicago then goes home to play Cleveland. Minnesota has the easier assignment: three at home versus Kansas City.
