MMA News: Kang vs. Akiyama Announced for K-1 Hero's

The matchmakers for K-1 Hero's have announced the full card for their Oct. 28 event in Seoul, Korea.

In the main event, American Top Team fighter Denis Kang (27-8-1) will face judoka Yoshihiro Akiyama (9-1-0). While Kang is coming off an enormous 22-fight winning streak, punctuated by only one loss to Kazuo Misaki (18-8-2) last year, Akiyama has not fought since a controversial no-contest decision against Kazushi Sakuraba (22-10-1) in December. During the match, Sakuraba complained that Akiyama was wearing a slippery substance. Later, Akiyama confessed to using a lotion before the match, but said it was only to treat his dry skin. As a result, he was disqualified, suspended and lost his prize money for winning the fight.

Also on the card, Brazilian jiu-jitsu champion Marcelo Garcia, who will make his MMA debut against Dae Won Kim (3-3-0). Mixed martial arts veterans Ikuhisa Minowa (38-25-8) and Carlos Newton (13-12-0) round out the card.
