MMA News: Sherk & Silva Win, Ortiz draws at UFC 73

Allow me to congratulate myself. My predictions for UFC 73: Stacked were dead-on accurate. I got every single fight right.

Except one.

On July 7, I thought Nate "The Great" Marquardt (25-7-2) would take Anderson Silva (19-4-0) down, pass his guard, and drop punches on his face until Silva’s head looked like a pancake covered in strawberry jam.

I was wrong. Silva managed to reverse a takedown, put Marquardt on his back, and punch him into oblivion.

The good news, of course, is that this sets up the much-ballyhooed re-match between Silva and the man whose face he smashed to win the title; Rich “Ace” Franklin (22-2-0). Will Franklin defeat Silva in the re-match? Or will “The Spider” leave Franklin stunned on the canvas with his nose looking like the letter “J” again? Read more ...
