Former Pride light heavyweight champion Wanderlei Silva (31-7-1) has posted a letter on his offical website saying he'd like to fight Forrest Griffin (15-4-0) in December.
Rumors were circulating that Silva would fight Chuck Liddell (20-5-0) if "The Iceman" could get past Keith Jardine (13-3-1) on Sept 22. Unfortunately, Liddell lost a split decision at "UFC 76: Knockout." Griffin defeated Silva's former team mate Mauricio "Shogun" Rua (16-3-0) on the same night.
"Liddell's fight had a direct effect on me because Dana White said I would fight him if he won," Silva writes. "Now I will have to wait for another name."
Considering the results of the fight, Silva feels Griffin makes a good replacement for "The Iceman".
"I would like, in view of the last event and also as a vengeance for my friend to fight with this Forrest Griffin," he explains. "I guess it could be a good name for me."
