Myron Cope Tribute - Pittsburgh Remembers a Legend
Myron Cope died yesterday. The Pittsburgh Steelers' legendary radio broadcaster was 79 when he passed away from respiratory failure. Not surprisingly, the tributes are pouring in for the beloved personality and many of them have been posted on YouTube.
As all Steeler fans know, Cope was the inventor of the Terrible Towel, an idea he came up with in the 1975 playoffs to drum up fan excitement. He called for all fans to bring yellow dish towels to Pittsburgh's game against the Baltimore Colts. Ever since, the Terrible Towel has been a part of the Pittsburgh sports scene.
