Here we go again. The Boston Celtics fell 110-109 to the Los Angeles Lakers in overtime Thursday night as 6.5-point home faves. This has got to be a kick in the gut for the defending champions; their Christmas Day loss to the rival Lakers started a 4-7 SU and 3-8 ATS tailspin. Now the C’s have to drag their weary bones to Madison Square Garden to play the rested New York Knicks, who run the second-fastest pace in the NBA at 99.5 possessions per game.

At least Kevin Garnett will be relatively fresh, having fouled out against the Lakers after 33 minutes of action. Garnett missed the previous two games with the flu, but held firm against the Lakers with 16 points and a plus-9. However, the Celtics (41-10 SU, 28-23 ATS) were 100-88 losers against New York (21-27 SU, 28-20 ATS) at MSG during their post-Xmas slump.
