For the Spurs it is pretty clear what they will have to do to improve their odds of winning and that is stopping Danny Granger. Heading into the week, Granger had scored at least 20 points in 15 straight games, the longest active streak in the NBA.
Despite their record, the Pacers should not be taken for granted. Indiana has beaten some of the top teams in the league this season including the Celtics and Lakers.
The Spurs are getting the usual production from Tim Duncan, Tony Parker and Manu Ginobili but it has been the role players that are helping their rise in the West.
Matt Bonner has elevated his performance since being inserted into the starting lineup on Dec. 2. Bonner is averaging over 9.0 points and 5.0 rebounds for the Spurs.
