NBA Basketball Odds: New Coaches Hooped?

The 2008-2009 NBA season tips off tonight and there are a lot of new faces in new places when it comes to head coaching .

There will be a lot of pressure to win for Rick Carlisle in Dallas (+2500 to win title), Michael Curry in Detroit (+1100), and Terry Porter in Phoenix (+1800). All three coaches are inheriting teams that have the talent to win but also are running out of time for a championship.

Then you have the Chicago Bulls turning over the keys to rookie head coach Vinny Del Negro with hopes that he can turn around a franchise with a lot of potential.

Finally there are the well established coaches in Mike D'Antoni and Larry Brown taking on huge new challenges with the New York Knicks and Charlotte Bobcats. Those two teams may not win that many games, but with those veteran coaches in place they are taking a step in the right direction.
