NBA News: After Buyout, Cassell Likely to Join Celtics

As expected, after receiving a buyout from the Los Angeles Clippers, Sam Cassell should sign with the Boston Celtics once he clears waivers Monday at 6 p.m. ET his agent Daivd Falk says.

"We've talked to all the teams that expressed an interest in Sam and nothing is going to change," Falk told The Boston Globe. "He's still going to sign with the Celtics. The only unknown is if some team claims him off waivers. But I consider that to be highly unlikely."

Cassell joins a Celtics team already stacked with the three superstars - Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett, and Ray Allen - and will likely compete with young point guard Rajon Rondo for playing time.

" asked me how I felt about it," Rondo told the Herald. "I told him I thought it would be a great idea. It can only help me."
