NCAA Week 14 Odds & Key Injuries: Bettors Beware

The Florida Gators will be without one of their best defensive players, Carlos Dunlap. Is he injured? No. Is he stupid? Yes. (AP Images)"]
It’s the final week of college football’s regular season, and here is a quick injury update on some key injuries (or in one case a suspension) this weekend:
Carlos Dunlap, DE, Florida: Dunlap isn’t injured, but his intelligence is questionable as he was arrested early Tuesday morning for DUI in Gainesville. Dunlap, arguably Florida’s most important defensive player and the defensive MVP of last season’s BCS title game, was indefinitely suspended by Coach Urban Meyer and won’t play in Saturday’s SEC Championship Game against Alabama. Dunlap is tied for the team lead in sacks with seven and also registered six pass breakups and 35 tackles this year as the Gators rank No. 1 in the nation in scoring defense, total defense and pass defense. Justin Trattou, who had a key interception in a close game a few weeks ago with South Carolina, will start in Dunlap's place at defensive end. The Gators are -6 on Bodog’s college football odds.
Mark Ingram, RB, Alabama: Ingram sat out the Tide’s game-winning drive last week against Auburn with a bruised hip but guaranteed he would play Saturday against Florida. Ingram probably lost any chance for the Heisman with his 30 yards (his lowest total of the season) on 16 carries against Auburn, but the Tide need him against Florida because QB Greg McElroy has been up-and-down of late. Alabama is +6 on Bodog’s college football odds.
Ryan Mathews, RB, Fresno State: The junior, who has missed most of the past two games and all practices since suffering a concussion Nov. 14, is back practicing and will play in the regular-season finale against Illinois. Mathews is fourth in the nation in rushing 1,491 rushing yards after leading the country most of the season. He also has 14 touchdowns. Fresno is a 3-point dog at Illinois on Bodog’s college football odds.
Jahvid Best, RB, California: Best, who at one time this season might have been the Heisman favorite, will miss his third game in a row Saturday against Washington. Best still hasn’t even practiced since suffering the scary concussion Nov. 7 against Oregon State and went to see a specialist this week. His status for a bowl game also is very much in doubt. The Bears are -7 this week on Bodog’s college football odds.
Austin Pettis, WR, Boise State: The Broncos’ second-leading receiver will miss the regular-season finale with New Mexico State due to a leg fracture. Pettis, who has 62 catches for 850 yards and 14 touchdowns, might be able to make it back for a bowl game. Boise State shouldn’t miss him against NMSU, as the Broncos are 47.5-point favorites on Bodog’s college football odds.
Nic Grigsby, RB, Arizona: Grigsby, the team’s leading rusher, will sit out again this week against Southern Cal with a shoulder injury. He should be back for a bowl game. QB Nick Foles has a hand problem, but it’s his non-throwing hand and he played through it Saturday against Arizona State and will start against the Trojans. The Wildcats haven’t beaten USC since 2000 and are 7-point dogs on Bodog’s college football odds.
