NFL Betting Preview: Buffalo at New York Jets

It's been a long season for Chad Pennington and the Jets. (AI Wire)

While one QB tightens his grip on a starting job, the other find his getting loose.

That's one of the big stories this weekend in New York when the Jets host the Bills in classic AFC East rivalry game. For Buffalo, rookie QB Trent Edwards seems to have won the starting gig from incumbent JP Losman after leading Buffalo to an upset victory over Baltimore last weekend.

For New York, the catcalls continue for Chad Pennington as both fans and media alike are yearning for head coach Eric Mangini to turn starting duties over to Kellen Clemens.

Edwards has completed 66 percent of his passes for 563 yards with a touchdown and two interceptions since becoming the starter. Buffalo remains inconsistent on offense, but has been more productive with Edwards, holding the edge in time of possession in each of the last three games. He's also earned high praise from head coach Dick Jauron, who is impressed with the rookie's composure and poise.

Pennington, however, isn't getting nearly as much support from Mangini as he had earlier in the season. Mangini waited until Wednesday to announce Pennington would keep his job, two days after saying he would evaluate the entire team. Pennington has thrown for 1,211 yards, nine touchdowns and seven interceptions this season. All of his INTs have come in the Jets' last four games.

Currently, the Bodog Sportsbook has the Jets listed as three point home favorites, with the total set at 37.5 points.
