For the first time in franchise history, the Houston Texans have avoided a losing season.

Quarterback Sage Rosenfels had just 128 passing yards with one touchdown but the running game and special teams was able to amount for 35 points as the Texans defeated the Jaguars 42-28. The Texans end their up-and-down season with an 8-8 record.

The Jaguars were able to compete with mostly backups, including backup QB Quinn Gray passing for 302 yards with four TDs. However, the defense was run over by running backs Ron Dayne (88 yards and two TDs) and Darius Walker (86 yards and one TD), and Texans receiver Andre Davis ran back two kick returns for TDs.

The Texans were seven-point favorites in the contest.

Chicago Bears 33, New Orleans Saints 26

The Saints needed to beat Chicago to even have a chance to get in to the playoffs. Unfortunately, they faced a Bears team determined to play spoiler.

Bears QB Kyle Orton had a steady 190 passing yards with two TDs and one INT and Adrian Peterson had 91 rushing yards and one passing TD as the Bears defeated the Saints 31-26.

Although the Bears offense was steady what really dominated this contest was the Bears defense.

The Bears picked off Saints QB Drew Brees twice, forced two fumbles (recovering one), had three sacks and one safety in the contest.

With the loss the Saints have no chance of making the playoffs.

Cincinatti Bengals 38, Miami Dolphins 25

The Dolphins were hoping to grab their second win of the season, but the Bengals offensive attack proved too much for Miami's aging defense. The Bengals defeated the Dolphins 33-25.

Carson Palmer had 316 passing yards and three TDs with just one INT, and two of those TDs went to Chad Johnson, who finished off another solid season with 131 receiving yards.

Despite being on the road the Bengals were three-point favorites in the contest.
