Arizona Cardinals QB Matt Leinart was placed on injured reserve today, effectively ending his second NFL season. The highly-touted former Heisman winner from USC had played just five games this season, rotating in a platoon situation with veteran signal-caller Kurt Warner.
In related news, the Cardinals signed Tim Rattay as a backup for Warner, who will now be the clear-cut No. 1 in the desert. Rattay,an eight-year veteran, played in four games last year for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and completed 61 of 101 passes. He played for the San Francisco 49ers for six years before being traded to the Bucs.
