NFL Odds: Jones-Drew Has Not Had Surgery Says Coach

There's been a mystery wracking the brains of fantasy football fans and NFL odds bettors alike: What is the status of Jacksonville Jaguars running back Maurice Jones-Drew?

Preseason was just cruising along until everyone stopped and realized Jones-Drew had just six carries in exhibition ball for minus two yards. The fifth-year RB has had left knee problems in the past, causing reporters to speculate and even confirm that he's re-injured the knee and is possibly even recovering from surgery.

"No," head coach Jack Del Rio said about the rumors of surgery. "No, has not happened, is not necessary. He's working, rehabbing, strengthening and gearing up for the regular season."

Regardless, Jones-Drew's absence hurts his status as a top 3 fantasy player and even as an MVP candidate. Jones-Drew has solid 18-1 odds to win the 2010 NFL MVP.

Also, this definitely threatens the Jaguars chances at going Over 7 Total wins in the 2010 NFL Regular Season. Quarterback David Garrad hasn't shown any consistent ability to move the Jags offense in preseason action. If all this Jones-Drew injury talk is in fact B.S. than a great season for MJD and solid season for the Jags could happen. If not, they'll be underdogs every weekend.
