NFL Odds: Vince Young Won’t Face a Suspension

Very good news for the Tennessee Titans as they will not lose starting quarterback Vince Young to a suspension for a fight at a Dallas-area strip club back in June.
Nothing is official yet from the league office (although it should be later Thursday), but the Tennessean newspaper is reporting Young will avoid any punishment. NFL commissioner Roger Goodell had said in late June that Young, a first-time legal offender who received a misdemeanor citation for assault, was unlikely to be suspended.
Surveillance video footage released by police showed Young charging and attacking someone in a small room in Club Onyx. Reportedly Young was upset because a club employee disrespected the University of Texas, his alma mater. Young later apologized to the Titans, his teammates, his family and fans and pleaded for leniency from Goodell.
The Titans have a chance to get off to a good start this season after beginning last year 0-6 before Young took over as the starter for Kerry Collins and helped lead the team to an 8-2 finish. Young threw for 1,879 yards with 10 touchdowns and seven picks last year. Tennessee opens the 2010 season at home against Oakland and certainly will be favored to win that one on Bodog’s NFL odds. Then the Titans face the Pittsburgh Steelers, also in Nashville, and Pittsburgh will be without starting QB Ben Roethlisberger, who was suspended by Goodell for at least four games due to an off-the-field incident this offseason.
The Titans, who report to camp on Friday and begin practice on Saturday, have an over/under win total of 8.5 on Bodog.
