There is quite the crop of rookies entering the NFL this season that have the potential to bust out. None are bigger than Chris Wells, who is pegged as the early favorite for AP Offensive Rookie of the Year.

The Arizona RB is listed at +350, ahead of Donald Brown (+500) of the Colts and Michael Crabtree (+500) of the 49ers.

Coach Ken Whisenhunt is aiming for Wells to return this week from an ankle injury and play against the Chargers.

Wells' showing in the final three preseason games will go a long way toward determining his early-season role and how much of an impact he will have.

Also don't be surprised if Wells gets a look as a kickoff returner in the preseason. At least that is what the Cardinals' official site is saying.

Getting healthy and staying that way will be the greatest factor in Beanie Wells taking the title as AP Offensive Rookie of the Year.
