The streak is over.
After 13 consecutive losses to begin the season, the Miami Dolphins avoided immortality on Sunday by getting their first win of the season, a 22-16 overtime win against Baltimore.
It was a wild and wacky affair in Miami. The Dolphins looked to have won it in regulation, but third-string Ravens QB Troy Smith led the team down the field to tie it up with nine seconds remaining.
Then, in overtime, it looked as though Baltimore was going to keep Miami winless. But Matt Stover missed what would've been a game-winning FG. On the subsequent drive, Cleo Lemon hit Greg Camarillo with a 64-yard passing score, sending the Miami fans into a frenzy.
In other NFL action:
- New England 20, New York Jets 10: While Miami was busy avoiding the record books, New England inched closer to being included. the Patriots survived Tom Brady's worst outing of the year - he failed to throw a TD for the first time and only registered 140 passing yards - and eked out a 10-point victory in a game where they were favored by 24 points. Laurence Maroney had 104 rushing yards and a TD for the Patriots, who are now just two more wins away from a perfect season.
