NFL Sunday Recap: Seattle Edges St. Louis

Up until the final play of the game, Gus Frerotte had done remarkably well in relief of injured starter Marc Bulger.
But it was a poor final play that cost his St. Louis Rams the game.
The backup quarterback fumbled the snap on fourth-and-goal from the Seattle one-yard line with 27 seconds left Sunday, allowing the Seahawks to hold on for a 24-19 victory.
The game showcased an impressive Seattle comeback, as the team rallied from a 19-7 halftime deficit to drop the Rams to 2-9 on the year.
Matt Hasselbeck was 21-of-38 for 249 yards, one touchdown and one interception for the Seahawks. Maurice Morris, subbing for the injured Shaun Alexander, carried 16 times for 79 yards, and Deion Branch had five catches for 92 yards and a touchdown. Rookie Josh Wilson returned a first-quarter kickoff 89 yards for a touchdown.
Gus Frerotte was 20-of-32 for 161 yards and one interception, and threw a 15-yard first-quarter touchdown pass to Isaac Bruce. Stephen Jackson carried 23 times for 90 yards, including a 53-yard touchdown run in the first quarter.
It was an entertaining game from start to finish - three of the first four possessions went for scores, while the Rams had a chance on 4th and goal to win the contest late.
In other NFL Action:
- The Oakland Raiders broke an string of ugly streaks - the Raiders had lost 17 straight AFC West games, dropped nine in a row to Kansas City and they'd also lost six straight overall - in a 20-17 win over the chiefs. Getting 139 yards rushing from Justin Fargas and a big defensive stop on fourth down late in the contest, the Raiders got their third win of the year.
