NFL Week 10 Odds & Key Injuries: Bettor Beware

The Washington Redskins will be without Clinton Portis this week in their game against the Denver Broncos. (AP Images)

Clinton Portis, RB, Washington Redskins: Not really sure why you would bet on the Redskins, as they are 1-6-1 ATS this season and 0-4 ATS at home – Washington is a 3.5-point home dog to Denver this week. Portis left Sunday's loss to Atlanta with a concussion and almost certainly is out this week. That means Ladell Betts gets the start this week for the first time since 2006 – Betts had 70 yards on 15 carries and a TD against the Falcons on Sunday. Betts was excellent filling in for an injured Portis in '06 (five 100-yard games), so this might not be an injury that hurts Washington all that much. Denver is No. 8 against the run.

Brian Westbrook, RB, Philadelphia Eagles: Westbrook was expected to return last week for the big game with Dallas, but he sat again with that concussion despite practicing most of the week leading into the game. The Eagles missed him against the Cowboys, rushing for only 89 yards. It turns out Westbrook is also having issues with his surgically repaired right ankle and is unlikely to play this week at San Diego, which opened as a 3-point favorite on Bodog's NFL odds. The Chargers have won three in a row but don’t have a very good rush defense.

Anquan Boldin, WR, Arizona Cardinals: Boldin wasn't missed at all by Kurt Warner and Co. in last week’s rout of the Bears, which improved Arizona to 4-0 on the road this year. Boldin ripped into his head coach for holding him out against Chicago, saying he was OK to play. But the Cards thought a week off would help his lingering injuries. Boldin is fully expected to play this week as the Cards host Seattle and are 9-point favorites on Bodog's NFL odds. Be warned the Arizona is just 1-3 at home (and ATS) this year.

Trent Edwards, QB, Buffalo Bills: Edwards missed the past two games because of a concussion, but the Bills were off last week so he is expected to start Sunday against Tennessee, which is -7 on Bodog's NFL odds. Backup Ryan Fitzpatrick helped the Bills go 2-1 after Edwards was hurt in a 16-13 overtime win over the Jets on Oct. 18, and there were whispers that Fitzpatrick would keep the job because Buffalo's offense was struggling before Edwards went down. But Edwards has been practicing with the No. 1 offense.

Frank Gore, RB, San Francisco 49ers: Gore was poked in the eye in Sunday's loss to the Titans but stayed in the game. It was swollen afterwards, but he is expected to start Thursday against the Bears. Yes, that’s Thursday – the first Thursday night NFL Network telecast of the season. However, backup RB Glen Coffee is out, so Gore could get a ton of carries. The Niners are -3 on Bodog's NFL odds.

Thomas Davis, LB, Carolina Panthers: Davis was easily one of the top defenders on the Panthers this year with 61 tackles, 1.5 sacks and two interceptions. But he was placed on season-ending IR this week after tearing his ACL in Sunday’s loss to the Saints. Carolina is a 2-point home dog this week on Bodog's NFL odds against Atlanta.

Aaron Kampman, LB, Green Bay Packers: The team's best pass-rusher apparently played through a concussion in Sunday's loss to Tampa Bay but is very iffy for this week's game with Dallas. Kampman has just three sacks but is far and away the Packers' leader in terms of quarterback hits with 25. Green Bay is a 3-point home dog against the Cowboys on Bodog's NFL odds.
