The young Chicago Blackhawks have been one of the NHL’s surprise teams. And they got even better on Wednesday night when their best player returned from injury.
Martin Havlat scored two goals as the Blackhawks whipped the Tampa Bay Lightning, 5-1, at the United Center. Chicago paid -125 on the puckline (meaning a winning hockey bet of $125 would net $100). The betting total flew over 5.5 goals.
Former ’Ning goalie Nikolai Khabibulin stopped 21 shots for the win. Red-hot Patrick Sharp and rookie Jonathan Toews also scored for the Hawks, who have won four straight at home. With the influx of Havlat’s speed and offense, they’re even more dangerous. The winger had missed 22 games with a shoulder injury.
