NHL Hockey Betting News: Rangers Sign Lundqvist to Mega-Deal

While the New York Rangers' summer signings - Chris Drury and Scott Gomez - have made the Blueshirt faithful skeptical of big-money contracts, today's signing probably won't.
Late Wednesday afternoon, the Rangers announced that they've signed stalwart netminder Henrik Lundqvist to a six-year deal believed to be worth $6.5 million per season. The total dollar amount would make him one of the highest-paid goalies in the league, alongside the likes of Mikka Kiprusoff, Roberto Luongo, Martin Brodeur and Rick DiPietro.
Lundqvist is a two-time Vezina Trophy finalist who backstopped Sweden to a silver medal at the 2006 Winter Olympics in Italy. Despite the Rangers playing .500 hockey, Lundqvist's numbers have been nothing short of amazing outside of the win-loss columns this year. He's 24-21-5 with a 2.37 GAA and .906 save percentage.
