NHL Hockey Odds: Anaheim at San Jose

The Anaheim Ducks went from winning the Stanley Cup to getting rolled by Dallas in the first round. The betting public expects more in 2008-09. The Ducks are 12-1 on the Stanley Cup futures market, but their season opener is against the 8-1 San Jose Sharks.

The Ducks have some issues on defense. Mathieu Schneider and Marc-Andre Bergeron are gone; Ken Klee is in, plus Anaheim will get a full season (possibly) from Scott Niedermayer. Schneider was incredibly valuable for Anaheim last year: 39 points, plus-22 and lots of power-play time. Klee is a reliable veteran who eats up minutes, and that’s about it.

Meanwhile, San Jose has overhauled the blueline with Craig Rivet leaving and Rob Blake, Dan Boyle and Brad Lukowich coming in. Boyle was Tampa Bay’s best defenseman two years ago before playing just 37 games last year. He alone makes up for Rivet’s departure. Get all your NHL Hockey Betting Odds in the Bodog Sportsbook today!
