The Flames are playing excellent hockey over the past week or so, but they’ll face a Red Wings squad that’s starting to look like the defending Western Conference champions.
Detroit (33-23-12) is 6-2-0 on NHL hockey odds in its last eight games. The most recent victory came in overtime against the Buffalo Sabres on Saturday night.
Goalie Jamie Howard—who’s been between the pipes in 15 straight games for the Wings—made 24 saves in the victory. Defenseman Brian Rafalski scored the overtime winner for Detroit.
The Flames (34-25-9) have won four of their past five outings but are coming off a 3-1 loss to the Canucks. Curtis Glencross scored the lone goal for Calgary against Vancouver.
Calgary is 2-1 against Detroit this season. They met just last week, with the Flames coming out on top 4-2. Jarome Iginla had a goal and assist for Calgary, while Tomas Holmstrom had two points in the loss.
