Dominik Hasek backstopped the Detroit Red Wings to a 3-2 shootout victory over the Stanley Cup champion Anaheim Ducks, who opened the season on Saturday with a win over the Los Angeles Kings in London.

In Detroit, the Ducks came out fighting as Corey Perry tangled with Dallas Drake. Perry also assisted on Todd Bertuzzi's goal that gave Anaheim a 2-1 lead, but Tomas Holmstrom sent the game into overtime with a third-period marker.

The Red Wings were a -220 favorite on the puckline.
