NHL Results: Detroit Red Wings Score in OT; Ducks Shutout Islanders

The energy was intense at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul, MN., as the 2-2 game between Minnesota Wild and Detroit Red Wings went into overtime.

However, the Red Wings quickly prevailed, as Brett Lebda took a pass from Henrik Zetterberg and scored 1:37 into overtime, earning Detroit a 3-2 victory over the Wild.

Anaheim at New York:

Jean-Sebastien Giguere and the Ducks shutout the NY Islanders with 25 saves which took them to a 3-0 win at Nassau Coliseum on Long Island. During the game, 37-seven-year-old Teemu Selanne made his Ducks debut by setting up Scott Niedermayer's power-play goal in the second period. For the Islanders, Rick DiPietro allowed three goals out of the 26 shots, which lead to their fifth loss in a row.

Buffalo at Boston:

Ryan Miller stopped 30 shots, while Daniel Paille scored twice to earn Buffalo Sabres a 4-2 victory over the Boston Bruins.
