No. 3 Xavier was able to survive the constant shifts in momentum in this contest and beat No. 7 West Virginia 79-75 in overtime.
The Musketeers came in with the gameplan to shutdown West Virginia's Joe Alexander and use their three-point game to pull away, and at first it worked flawlessly. Xavier led by as many as 18 points in the first half.
But West Virginia was able to figure out the tough Xavier defense and even take the lead in the second half with 9:45 remaining.
Despite the shift in momentum the Musketeers were able to weather the storm and force the game into overtime where guard B.J. Raymond made two key 3s to seal the win.
Alexander was contained for the most part in this contest, scoring 18 point and grabbing 10 rebounds but only making eight of his 19 shots.
Xavier's Josh Duncan was a beast the whole game, he scored 26 and grabbed five boards.
Oddsmakers made Xavier one-point underdogs in this contest and they were able to cover with the win.
